Operation Christmas Child — Shoeboxes. A simple shoebox gift packed with love and fuelled by prayer can have a huge impact, reaching hard to access communities around the world and really can change lives. Today is the last day for ‘dropping-off’ in church, but there are several other locations around Colchester accepting shoeboxes for the next few days.

“Rock Solid” is an informal evening for people of all ages, with contemporary worship songs and relevant Bible teaching. All are welcome. The next Rock Solid is this evening, 10th November, in the St Peter’s Church Hall — 6 for 6:30pm.

The next Women’s Get Together is tomorrow, Monday 11th November, at 7:15pm at Castle Methodist Church. The topic is Remembrance (WGT). For more information, please contact Gill Poppleton (570725).

The Vicar’s Vestry Hour is now at the Vicarage. Please feel free to drop into the Vicarage any time between 12 and 1pm to ask Mark a question, to raise a concern, or just for a chat!

Light a Candle Service. Hunnaball of Colchester Funeral Service invites you to a ‘Light a Candle Service of Remembrance’ on Saturday 16th November, 11:00am, at St James the Great (East Hill). This ecumenical service aims to bring together those who have suffered bereavement in their lives, and to offer them the opportunity to receive comfort as they remember their loved ones. For more information, phone 760049.

First Bus ‘Safe and Better Journey Cards’. On the initiative of First Bus, there are cards made available, designed to help people use public transport where previously they may have faced difficulties. The cards provide a way of asking for assistance in a simple and discreet way when shown to the driver. There are cards available for you to pick up at the back of the church (please cut out the relevant card). Alternatively, you can download them on https://www.firstgroup.com/uploads/node_images/Safe_Journey_Card.pdf

A Christmas Carol is being recited by Anthony Roberts at St Botolph’s on Sunday 8th December at 3pm. Tickets are £5 for adults available on the door, free for children. Please see the posters for further details.

Services at Castle. There will be a regular 6:30 pm Communion service at Castle Methodists Church on the third Sunday of each month, starting on Sunday 15th December. All are invited, especially members of the Town Centre benefice.
