St Botolph’s is pleased to offer the following facilities to the community:

The Church, with its fine acoustics, is in heavy demand for concerts, recitals, carol services, exhibitions and so on. There is room for an audience of approximately 350. Up to four rows of staging can be assembled for the performers. The church’s organ can be hired and, in certain circumstances, the St Botolph’s Music Society’s Steinway grand piano, timps and music stands can be hired from the Society. A sound system, which incorporates a hearing-aid loop, is available.

The Hawkins Room (Hall) is a light, airy, carpeted room. Its capacity is 80 seated in rows or 60 seated at tables. There are ample stacking chairs and folding tables. Curtains allow the room to be darkened for the showing of slides or videos during the daytime and a screen is available.

The Ernulph Room (Vestry) is a smaller room with a seating capacity of 20.

There is a fully equipped kitchen available to those using other parts of the building, although use may have to be shared if more than one group is using the church. A serving hatch gives access to the Hall. The church’s cutlery and crockery is available for use. There is no charge for simple activities such as making tea or coffee and but there would be a charge for anything more extensive.

The church is located in a quiet area of the town centre, close to several public car parks and Colchester Town station. For those hiring our facilities, a maximum of two spaces are available in the church’s car park during the day, and about 10 spaces in the evening. There is disabled access to all parts except the galleries in the church, and the toilet provision includes a disabled persons’ toilet.

We would be happy to show you round and to discuss your requirements with you. Regular bookings are welcomed.
